Our approach

Custom 3D printed orthotic devices

CAD CAM Consultancy provides custom 3D printed orthotic devices, including bespoke insoles, ankle-foot orthoses, cranial remoulding helmets and protective helmets. Each device is designed around the individual patient, with clinical suitability, comfort and function considered throughout the process.

Bespoke 3D printed insole

Bespoke solutions

Bespoke insoles

Bespoke insoles are personalised orthotic devices designed around the shape and structure of your feet. They take into account your individual biomechanics and any relevant foot or postural concerns, helping to provide targeted support where it is needed.

Unlike standard, off-the-shelf insoles, bespoke insoles are developed following an assessment that may combine precise scanning technology with clinical evaluation. The aim is to create an insole that fits comfortably and supports your specific needs and goals.

Bespoke insoles can offer a non-invasive way to improve comfort, encourage better alignment and support mobility as part of a wider clinical approach.

3D printed ankle-foot orthosis

Bespoke solutions

Ankle-foot orthoses

An ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) is a supportive brace designed to help guide and stabilise the ankle and foot. It may also be used to limit movement where clinically appropriate, supporting rehabilitation goals or helping manage specific mobility challenges. AFOs are used in a wide range of clinical situations because they can be adapted to different levels of support and control.

Our 3D printed AFOs are designed around the individual patient’s needs, with careful attention to fit, alignment and comfort. Depending on the clinical requirements, we can create a more rigid design for additional control or a hinged design that allows carefully managed movement.

By combining custom design, fine adjustment and additive manufacturing technology, our AFOs are made to support comfort, function and day-to-day mobility.

3D printed protective helmet

Protective helmets

Protective helmets are custom-made orthotic devices designed to help reduce the risk of injury for people who may be vulnerable to head impacts. They may be recommended where additional protection is needed as part of a wider clinical or care plan.

Each helmet is designed around the individual’s head shape, daily needs and clinical requirements, with careful attention to fit, comfort and appropriate coverage.

Suitability should always be assessed by an appropriately qualified clinician, as the level of protection, design and materials required will vary from person to person.

3D printed cranial helmet

Cranial remoulding helmets

Cranial remoulding, often known as helmet therapy, is used to help manage some moderate to severe cases of flat head syndrome. The therapy uses a custom-made cranial helmet, or orthosis, designed to gently guide skull growth as your baby develops.

The helmet works by applying carefully controlled contact to more prominent areas while allowing flatter areas space to grow, helping support a more balanced head shape over time.

Suitability for helmet therapy should always be assessed by an appropriately qualified clinician, as each baby’s needs and treatment plan are different.
